Search for emission factors by entering keywords in the search field. When searching for emission factors, the name of the emission factor, geographical scope, year of update, and source of the emission factor will be displayed.

If there is a blue arrow after the factor, you can find more detailed information, such as the emission factor value, by clicking on it. If there is a yellow lock next to the emission factor, you can find the factor on the OpenCO2net platform by creating a free account for the service. You will find a total of approximately 1,000 free emission factors on our platform.

How to search for emission factors?

Enter the search terms in the field to find the factors. By entering more keywords, you can further refine your search to, for example, the products of a specific company or the services offered in a particular area. For more information on the emission factor, click on the emission factor.

Note that the search returns all your search term’s emission factors in their name. In this case, you can narrow down the search by specifying which emission source you mean.

What emission factors do we use in the database?

Our paid emissions database includes emission factors collected from public sources and directly from companies. We only collect non-corporate emission factors from the best available sources, such as research institute publications and scientific articles. We carefully review the constraints and assumptions underlying the calculation of each emission factor. DNV has validated the OpenCO2net data collection process.

What is the difference between the paid and the free emissions database?

The paid emissions database is the most extensive in Finland and is designed for the needs of companies.

The free emissions database is a limited version of the extensive emissions database. You have access to the most common emission factors associated with everyday life.

How do I get access to the extensive emissions database?

Free and limited emissions database

Search for the emission factor of, for example, the electricity you use, the car you own, air travel, or beef. You can view information and background data on approximately 50 emission factors free of charge and without logging in. You can view over 1,000 emission factors and their background information by creating an account on our OpenCO2net platform. By purchasing access to our calculators, you will have access to the entire OpenCO2 emissions database, which currently contains approximately 8,000 emission factors. Explore the database below.

Comprehensive emissions database for a fee

Our emissions database, available for a fee, is the most comprehensive in Finland. By purchasing OpenCO2net access rights or the OpenCO2 API interface for your company, you can obtain the emission factors you need from our OpenCO2 emissions database, which contains 8,000 emission factors, as well as access to Ecoinvent emission factors. OpenCO2net’s data collection process is validated by DNV, and the emissions database contains carefully assessed emission factors collected from both public sources and companies.
