Our partner in assessing the climate impacts of the textile industry
Finnish Textile and Fashion is the central organisation for textile, clothing and fashion companies in Finland. The organisation represents its member companies’ interests as an industry influencer – it takes part in relevant decision-making and discussions concerning the business environment, and provides the member companies platforms for co-operation and advocacy.
Finnish Textile and Fashion has launched the Carbon Neutral Textile Industry 2035 commitment. The commitment provides companies in the industry with concrete tools to mitigate climate change. As part of the commitment, OpenCO2net, in collaboration with Finnish Textile and Fashion, developed a GHG Protocol -based climate calculator for the companies joining the commitment to determine their carbon footprint.
In addition, OpenCO2net has helped update the textile and fashion industry’s climate roadmap and, together with Finnish Textile and Fashion, examined the global greenhouse gas emissions from producing and transporting raw materials used by the Finnish textile and fashion industry, as well as from the use of textile products and clothing.
Ecoinvent emission factors as part of the OpenCO2 emissions database
Ecoinvent is the world’s most comprehensive life cycle assessment (LCA) database, producing and providing reliable and transparent environmental data.
OpenCO2net collaborates with Ecoinvent and offers subscription customers the opportunity to also utilize the emission factors from the Ecoinvent database for calculating their greenhouse gas emissions.
Through this cooperation agreement, we ensure that our customers always have access to the best emission factors they need.
Collaboration to support climate actions of UK and Irish companies
Techies Go Green is a non-profit organisation that brings together more than 900 companies from the UK and Ireland across various industries. Its goal is to foster learning, provide access to resources, promote best practices, and identify opportunities to reduce GHG emissions and advance sustainability.
The phrase “What gets measured, gets managed” is a central message in Techies Go Green’s climate communications to its member organisations. OpenCO2net provides Techies Go Green members with a carbon footprint calculator based on the GHG Protocol, along with a customised calculation template. These tools enable members to accurately assess their carbon footprint. Together, OpenCO2net and Techies Go Green ensure that member organisations have the necessary insights to develop more effective emission reduction plans.
