eSett has been calculating its Scope 1–3 emissions for several years
The collaboration between OpenCO2net and eSett began in 2021, when OpenCO2net assisted eSett in developing its own climate efforts. The company’s Scope 1–3 emissions were calculated for the first time that same year using data from 2020. The company sought expert assistance and reliable emission factors for both developing its climate initiatives and calculating emissions, which led to the selection of OpenCO2net as a partner.
Since then, Scope 1–3 emissions calculations in accordance with the GHG Protocol standards have been carried out by OpenCO2net’s experts using OpenCO2net’s tools. The annual emissions calculations have provided a clear picture of the impact of the company’s operations and enabled annual emissions comparisons. By repeating the emissions calculation annually, the impact of emissions reduction measures can also be demonstrated reliably and accurately.

In 2026, eSett set acceptable SBTi targets
The annual emissions calculation also provided an excellent foundation for setting emissions reduction targets. Once again, eSett sought assistance from OpenCO2net, and the process began with SBTi training in 2026. During the training, the process of setting emissions reduction targets for an SME was reviewed. It was done along with the various options for setting targets and how OpenCO2net could support eSett in this process.
After the training, eSett decided to set short-term SBTi targets for SMEs. OpenCO2net’s experts provided assistance throughout the entire target-setting process, including entering data into the SBTi portal, calculating targets, and, when necessary, answering questions during the validation phase. Ultimately, eSett’s SBTi process went quite smoothly, as the emissions calculations had been done correctly from the start and in accordance with the standards. SBTi validated eSett’s targets during the spring of 2026. The next step for the company is to implement emissions reduction measures in line with the set targets.
